Read Me Week 2009
May 16, 2008
Read Me Week 2009 will be held February 23-27, 2009. The 2009 Theme is "20 Years of Reading Adventures" celebrating Book'em and Read Me Week's 20th Anniversary! Our spotlight school will be Glenn Enhanced Option Elementary School. Glenn students will be treated to a special reading celebration on Read Me Day, Friday, February 27.
Read Me Week is our annual spotlight on reading. It is a way of communicating to the community and especially children the fun, excitement, and importance of books and reading.
We call it "Read Me Week" because the volunteer readers are invited to wear a hat, shirt, pin, etc., with writing on it for the students to read. Children always enjoy their chances to "read the reader"!
For the second year we will have a Dr. Seuss Birthday Party hosted by Tennessee Titan Brandon Jones on Sunday, March 1st at the Northwest YMCA. About 200 people attended last year and enjoyed crafts, cake and Dr. Seuss stories. In addition, Brandon Jones will award the annual Bookmark Contest winners. Click here to download flyer.
